About ABAN

ABAN comes from Middle Persian, and in the Zoroastrian tradition refers to “great gathering place of the waters—whether as waves or drops, or collectively as streams, pools, rivers or wells.” Aban is associated with Anahita, the ancient Iranian Goddess of Fertility, Healing, and Wisdom. ABAN Online Learning Community: A confluence of ideas, activists, and resources to advance human rights, democracy, and peace ABAN Online Learning Community is designed to be a space where learners—and leaders—can connect and grow their skills to advance equality and democratic principles.

ABAN is an online learning community in the truest sense; a space where participants from around the world can communicate, network, share resources, best practices, and experiences, hold video conferences, participate in eCourses and webinars, chat online, exchange materials, engage in discussions, strengthen Civil Society and support participant collaboration to create simple and effective policy and public outreach platforms and campaign messaging. Mission, Vision, and Values Statements Mission – ABAN’s mission is to create a professional, participatory, interactive online learning space where women and girls, men and boys, can convene to build their capacities for leadership, activism, and political participation to contribute to egalitarian democracies that embrace diversity and human rights for ALL citizens.
